Features

Our vegetable-dyed Quechua Alpaca Fingering wool collection is the direct result of our close collaboration with Quechua Alpaca. Located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, Quechua Alpaca has created an entire ethical, fair-trade-certified chain around alpaca wool. Thanks to our partnership and all the work accomplished by Quechua Alpaca, supported by umàlf in its development, around a hundred families live in dignity. It's a true partnership of the heart, based on strong human values, rooted in a family and associative history.

Our Fingering wools in the Teintures Végétales collection are entirely hand-dyed in a small workshop in Aréquipa. The dyes are made from emblematic Peruvian plants, in the purest respect for the long-standing Peruvian tradition of vegetable dyeing. The colors in this collection are soft and resistant, like Grand Teint.

Your wool

Each skein of Fingering Quechua Alpaca weighs 100gr and measures around 400m. Its 3-ply construction classifies it as LIGHT FINGERING, slightly finer than 4-ply fingering. It's ideal for all your projects requiring this type of wool, and you'll appreciate its immense softness and natural puffiness.

It can be worked from 2.75 mm to 3.5 mm in single yarn. More in doubled yarn.

Composition

Your Quechua Alpaca Fingering is made from 100% pure Baby Alpaca. This is the animal's underfleece, the softest and highest-quality part of its wool. Quechua Alpaca alpacas live in virtual freedom. We have also received all the certificates of Good Animal Husbandry Practices. The animals are protected and respected.

Non-superwash, this wool has not been treated in any way. It's organic, eco-responsible, for knits that make sense. It's an exceptional wool, ultra-soft, with a beautiful puffiness. You'll love knitting or crocheting a shawl, for example, with this magnificent wool.

It should be hand-washed. But remember that real, beautiful wools don't need to be washed often. Don't hesitate to air your work regularly and wash it less frequently!

Although we take great care to ensure that our photos match our colors, they may vary from one screen to another.
