Our Lace Quechua Alpaca plant dyed wool collection is the direct result of our close collaboration with Quechua Alpaca. Located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, Quechua Alpaca has created an entire ethical, Fair Trade certified chain around alpaca wool. Thanks to our partnership and all the work done by Quechua Alpaca, supported by umàlf in its development, around one hundred families live in dignity.
Our lace wool in this plant Dyes collection is entirely hand dyed in a small workshop in Aréquipa. The dyes are made from emblematic Peruvian plants, in the purest respect for the ancient Peruvian tradition of vegetable dyeing. The colors in this collection are soft and durable.
Each skein of Lace Quechua Alpaca weighs 100g and measures around 800m. It's a very fine, lace-like yarn that works particularly well for openwork. You can also use your Lace with, for example, a Kid Fluffy. This will give your work extra support.
You can also work your Lace in double thread (2 strands of Lace together).
Your Quechua Alpaca Lace is made from 100% pure baby alpaca. This is the under fleece of the animal, the softest and highest quality part of its wool. Quechua Alpaca's alpacas live in virtual freedom. We have also obtained all the Good Animal Husbandry Practices certificates. They are protected and respected.
Non-superwash, this wool has not been treated in any way. It's organic, eco-responsible, for knits that make sense. It's an exceptional wool, ultra soft, with a beautiful puffiness. You'll love knitting or crocheting a shawl with this lovely wool.
It should be washed by hand. But remember that real, beautiful wools don't need to be washed very often. Don't hesitate to air your work regularly and wash less often!
It can be worked in 2.5 to 3.5 mm single thread. More in double thread.
Although we take great care to ensure that our photographs are accurate, colours may vary from screen to screen.
